The Discovery and Training of the World Teacher
In 1909, when Krishnamurti was 14 years old, he met Charles Webster Leadbeater, a prominent occultist and theosophist, who claimed to have seen a \"star-like\" aura around him. Leadbeater convinced Annie Besant, the president of the Theosophical Society, that Krishnamurti was the vehicle for the expected World Teacher, a spiritual leader who would usher in a new era of humanity. Besant took legal custody of Krishnamurti and his brother Nitya and moved them to England, where they received a Western education and training in theosophy.
Krishnamurti soon became the head of the Order of the Star in the East, an organization founded by Besant to prepare the world for the coming of the World Teacher. He traveled around the world, giving lectures and attracting followers. He also underwent a series of mystical experiences that he later described as \"the process\", which involved physical pain, visions and heightened awareness. He said that during this time he felt \"a Presence\" that guided him.
The Dissolution of the Order and the Declaration of Truth
In 1929, Krishnamurti shocked the theosophical world by announcing that he was dissolving the Order of the Star in the East and renouncing his role as the World Teacher. He said that he had realized that truth could not be organized or imposed by any authority, but had to be discovered by each individual for themselves. He declared that \"truth is a pathless land\" and that he had no followers or disciples. He said that he wanted to set people free from all beliefs and dogmas and help them find their own understanding of life.
From then on, Krishnamurti spoke as an independent thinker and teacher, not affiliated with any religion or philosophy. He continued to travel around the world, giving talks and holding dialogues with various audiences, including scientists, educators, artists, religious leaders and students. He also wrote many books and founded several schools based on his principles of education. He emphasized the importance of self-knowledge, freedom from conditioning, psychological revolution and holistic inquiry as essential for human transformation. 061ffe29dd
